Hello, everyone!
I hope you have all had an excellent week! Mine has been really busy – one where balancing full-time work with blogging and reading was especially difficult. If only there were more hours in the day…
Although time can be an obstacle, and I can be less productive that I would like to be with my writing, including this blog, I certainly cannot be disappointed with how my reading is going.
At the beginning of the year I set a reading target of 45 books. It was the first time I had ever set a target, possibly given how unforgivably late I was in setting up an account on Goodreads. Given the amount of time (or lack of) I have on my hands, and the fact I had never read anything like that number of 300 + page books in a year, I thought that was an ambitious target.
But so far I think I am rising to the challenge! As I have said in previous posts, I am really prioritising my reads now, and to be honest I can no longer imagine what my life would be like if I stopped reading for a number of days at a time.
So far I have read 17 books, which according to Goodreads is four ahead of schedule. I cannot believe that! I still think somewhere along the line I might fall into a bit of a slump, but I am really pleased with the progress I am making! To be nearly halfway to the target already, I have surprised myself.
I wonder if one day I can be someone who reads up to 100 books in a year. Maybe I might have to quit my job first haha.
If there is anything I need to improve on this year, it is the range of genres I read. I need to expand my range, no doubt about that. But for now, I am just happy to be on track, as my reading target is almost always on the back of my mind, telling me not to slack!
Let’s Chat
How is everyone getting along with their reading targets? Do let me know in the comments!
My next book review is coming up in a couple of days, and I am LOVING my current read so am really looking forward to writing that!
Happy reading ☺
