Rereading…Cormoran Strike

Hello everyone,

It is now only THREE WEEKS until Lethal White, the next book in the Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith (that’s J.K. Rowling to us) is released. I personally cannot wait, and am going to be building up to it by rereading the first three books in the series, which sit happily in my bookcase.

When I first heard that J.K. Rowling was the actual author of The Cuckoo’s Calling, I surprisingly did not go straight to the local bookstore or buy it online. I waited until 2016, when all three books had been released, and then read them all back-to-back.

Each case has been compelling and captivating, but for me this is primarily a wonderful, character-driven series of books. I like the shrewdness and uniqueness of Cormoran Strike, and also his complexity – he has a lot of flaws, but he is just a great character to read about and discover.

His assistant Robin Ellacott is one of my favourite bookish characters – she is so lovable. Clever, sensitive and compassionate – she is a character who I care a great deal about, and together with Cormoran the two make a perfect partnership.

For two years, I have been waiting to find out what happens next! The end of Career of Evil left me on tenterhooks, and I have waited so patiently to see where Strike and Robin’s stories continue on from where the last book left off. I hope it is worth the wait.

In the meantime, I have had the television series to enjoy. The adaptations are very good – a few little things were changed but the essence of the story and the characters were captured well, but I am very much looking forward to rereading the books over the coming weeks, and then devouring Lethal White.
