Hello everyone,
I hope you are doing well. It is time for me to post my monthly poem! Ideally, I would write more than just one poem in a month, but because I put very little time aside in my life for creativity at the moment (I am working on it), that is all I am managing.
So, this is another poem about our favourite subject – books! This one evokes a theme I have discussed in my recent posts, the journey from reading a book to reviewing it.
It is called ‘A Literary Ride’. The first two verses came very easily, but the other two were rather more difficult to think of something that worked. I hope you like it!
The book sits prone in my hands
Eyes float over each sacred page
Mind ticking keenly at every word,
As more thoughts invade my frenzied brain
The chapters slide by and the plot thickens
I feel the intake of breath as the tension builds,
Sensing the presence of the imminent twist
And inwardly praying for a genuine thrill
The rise and fall of invested emotion
Guides me along this literary ride
Pure, simple words resonate with meaning
As I bask in this author’s distinctive style
Then the ending arrives and the hard work awaits
And I sit poised to deliver my honest verdict
Careful and thorough and laden with adjectives
While aiming forever to be fair and sincere
Did you like this poem? I would love to hear your thoughts, positive or negative, in the comments!
Happy reading :)
