Hello everyone,
I have tried to think of as many categories as I can to review my year of avid reading, and this one is definitely one of my favourites!
Of all the different book genres, the one I read most frequently is mystery/thriller. They are the kind of books I am immediately drawn to, and I love being presented with an astonishing twist.
These five books all contained dramatic twists that I either did not see coming, or changed the entire complexion of the book in a way that made it an unforgettable read.

Dead Secret by Ava McCarthy
This was one of the first books I read in 2018, and it is certainly one of the very best. It is totally compelling from start to finish, and the twist near the end was a bombshell that left me totally floored!

The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena
This book has a relatively simple premise, but the way it casts suspicion on all of the main characters makes it so immersive. As each piece of hidden information about them is uncovered, the plot thickens…

My Mother’s Secret by Sanjida Kay
This book was full of suspense all the way, and as such it was a total page-turner. There were a lot of dramatic twists, all of them brilliantly revealed. I was able to predict a couple of them, but one of them in particular had me speechless!

Close To Home by Cara Hunter
This is the first in Cara Hunter’s wonderful crime series, and it was delightfully unpredictable. Told in an innovative, multi-faceted way, this was in many ways the perfect crime thriller!

Her Name Was Rose by Claire Allan
This was a very deep psychological thriller that unravelled menacingly to spectacular effect, with many of the twists proving that there was more to all the characters than initially meets the eye.
