Poem – The Book Tower

Hello everyone,

I have written another bookish poem! The more I write, the harder it is to think of a new one, so this one was ticking over in my mind for quite some time!

This poem is an exaggerated (or is it?!) description of having such a long and ever-increasing TBR, and how it might easily get out of control and threaten to crush us :)

I thought of the first verse very quickly, but I found the rest was hard to write, maybe because I have been unwell during the last couple of days.
I hope you like it!

The tower extends gradually higher
One book at a time
My list grows ever longer
As another blurb catches my eye

It fills the floor and skims the walls
Consuming all my space
But then again us bibliophiles;
We wouldn’t have it another way

The piles of pages rise to the ceiling
Escaping from my reach
No room left on the shelf
Yet so much still to read

This is one cycle that never stops
A story with no last line
A literary life so vicariously defined
By the unyielding passage of time

Did you like this poem? I would love to hear your thoughts, positive or negative, in the comments!

Happy reading :)
