Hello everyone,
For those of us who use Twitter, it has been impossible not to notice the ‘blog of the day’ posts, where each day a book blogger is featured and one of their posts is shared widely to help boost their profile.
It is all orchestrated by Dave at The WriteReads, who does such a fantastic job in supporting book blogs. The group is continually growing, and it is just such a great thing to be part of. It has also helped me as blogger in several ways:
Discovering Other Blogs
I love discovering other book bloggers and interacting with them, and through The WriteReads I have made some very good blogging friends. It has also been great to see the range of content that exists elsewhere in the bookish community – so inspiring!
It has genuinely surprised me to discover just how many book bloggers there actually are! It is a growing community, and the blog/review of the day really demonstrates that the support is there and that you are always made to feel welcome.
On a separate note, I have loved it when some of my favourite bloggers have been featured. I felt so pleased for them because they deserve all the attention for their amazing posts.
Less Impostor Syndrome
For a lot of the time since I started blogging, I have felt a degree of impostor syndrome. I have worried that my blog is terrible compared to others; that my reviews are not good enough; that I am not well informed to write about books.
These doubts still occur every now and then, but since becoming a member of the WriteReads group I have really begun to feel like part of the community and it has made me a more confident blogger. I feel like I express myself more in my posts.
Stats
I don’t like to talk about my blog stats very often, but it is clear that the WriteReads has helped increase my following a lot more than I expected. I now have more than 400 followers, which is surreal! I am so grateful, as I never thought I would get anything like that many!
My blog day was 5th January, when my review of The Miniaturist was featured. I spent almost the entire day responding to lovely comments and receiving countless notifications! I was blown away by the amount of interaction my post received, and since then my stats have been consistently quite high.
I am sure that there are other ways that Dave has helped me, and so many more of you. It has made me enjoy blogging more, so I have to thank him and every member of the group. You are amazing!
