Top Five Most Dramatic Twists I Read In 2019

Hello everyone,

It is time to look back at the books I read in 2019 that contained the most dramatic and unexpected twists. As a reader, there are few better things in my opinion than coming across a twist that you just didn’t see coming!

Although I have managed to read a much wider range of genres this year, some of the twists I did chance upon were some of the most effective I have ever read…

The Rumour by Lesley Kara

This book is one where a range of characters all come under suspicion and as such, it keeps you guessing. Yet I never really saw the twist coming, and a very clever use of red herrings along the way made the reveal extra powerful.

Don’t Turn Around by Amanda Brooke

This was a truly compelling and impactful thriller about a teenage girl who had killed herself. But who or what drove her to do it? For a while I thought I had it worked out, but the truth turned out to much more shocking and the twist is like a bombshell.

Changeling by Matt Wesolowski

When I reached the twist at the end of this brilliant, atmospheric book, my jaw sunk to the floor! There were some subtle clues along the way, but their significance went unheeded, and the astonishing way in which it was revealed just made absolutely sure of its place as one of my best and most memorable reads of 2019.

Her Last Breath by Tracey Buchanan

I sensed the major twist in this one just as I was about to reach it, but that did not take anything away from its impact. It was one of those twists that made me completely change the way I thought about the book, and it was a heart-stopping moment!

The Passengers by John Marrs

This was an immensely thrilling book that was just so full of twists right the way through! Not many chapters went by without learning a revelation about one or more of the characters, and that made it totally unpredictable.
