Hello everyone,
It is time to look back on the most beautiful books I have read in 2020! I absolutely adore a pretty, decorative cover, and I feel very lucky to own all of the ones on this list.
All of my favourite covers seem to be for historical fiction novels by a lot of the same authors, but one contemporary read does make it into my top five for this year. Here they all are!

The Binding by Bridget Collins
This cover consists of an extremely intricate, filigree design which I absolutely love. But perhaps even better lies beneath the dust cover, as you are treated to glistening golden patterns.

With The Fire On High by Elizabeth Acevedo
This cover has been designed to absolute perfection, that it looks like a work of art. The portrait of the main character, Emoni, is brilliantly realised and the various culinary ingredients that surround her reflect the feel of the story.

The Foundling by Stacey Halls
My personal favourite cover of 2019 was for Stacey Halls’ previous novel The Familiars, and this one is also very pretty. I love the detail and the symbolism it contains, and its just the kind of cover that captures your attention. The story itself is really good, too.

Circe by Madeline Miller
A wonderful cover for a brilliantly written book! The cover of Circe is just so arresting; its burnt orange background carved into the shape of an amphora with beautiful images of birds, plants, and figures on either side. It truly captures the essence of myth.

The Confession by Jessie Burton
I still have not read this one, but I definitely will before the end of the year. It is absolutely beautiful, and the keyhole in the middle does actually peep through into the first page, giving it that added intrigue! The hardback came out last year, but I much prefer this cover.
