Top Five Powerful Books I Read In 2020

Hello everyone,

Today I have my second post looking back at the most memorable books I read in 2020.

This time I am revisiting the five books which have left the biggest emotional impact, which will stay with me for quite a long time. The books on this list are because of the way they explore certain sensitive issues, and how they are portrayed.

These things were sometimes complimented by a profound writing style that made me feel powerfully connected to the book, making them all the more effective.

So here is the list. It was hard to narrow it down to five, but here we are!

The Lion Tamer Who Lost by Louise Beech

This one was just so emotional! Coupled with beautiful writing, I was so invested in the story and the two main characters. Everything about it was moving and there were some heartbreaking moments.

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

This is another book with a very strong focus on two characters. I am constantly in awe of Elizabeth Acevedo’s writing; the way she is able to convey such meaning in so few words. This one is told in verse, but the way it explored the emotions and insecurities of Camino and Yahaira was so exceptionally powerful.

Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

This was a brilliant book for almost every reason imaginable, and many of its aspects resonated with me. I am including it on this list because I developed such a strong emotional connection towards it and I could not let go for some time even after I got to the end. Kya’s story is simply remarkable, and it does touch on issues such as race and loneliness.

A Song Of Isolation by Michael J. Malone

I have discovered Michael J. Malone’s books this year and they leave quite the lasting impression with the sensitive topics they explore. This one was a fantastic, thought-provoking read, and it stirred such a powerful reaction from me to the extent that I could barely let go of my Kindle!

The Murmur Of Bees by Sofia Segovia

The writing in this book was something to behold. A huge array of themes ranging from life events to human emotions, were explored from every possible angle, with meaningful lines everywhere you look. It is a unique piece of literature which tells a magical, timeless story.
