Hello everyone,
Today I have decided to share the list of all the books I’ve bought so far in 2022, as my unread pile gets higher and higher. I have bought a total of seven, which might not seem like many to some but it definitely is for me in that relatively short space of time.
My method is to only buy books that are on my Goodreads TBR, especially if I find them for a good price or in reasonable condition at a charity shop, so that at least justifies the purchase! However, if a book really catches my eye while browsing the shelves, sometimes I cannot leave without it.
So without further ado, let us have a look at my seven recent additions.
Girl A by Abigail Dean
This thriller had been on my radar for a few months before I finally took the leap and bought it from a charity shop in Reading. It seems full of suspense and has received a lot of positive reviews as well as award nominations, so it was inevitable that I would get myself a copy before long.
Everything Under by Daisy Johnson
This was the one book I have bought so far this year which was not on my TBR! I had actually never heard of it, but when I saw it in another charity shop I was intrigued by the blurb, and also the fact that it was nominated for the Booker Prize. It has very mixed reviews on Goodreads, but that has not put me off.
The Mermaid And Mrs Hancock by Imogen Hermes Gowar
A few friends of mine in the book blogging community have read this one and had interesting thoughts, which made me rather curious to check it out. The plot sounds unique and perhaps even a little bizarre, with the combination of historical fiction and fantasy, so I am looking forward to finding out what I think of it. This was another charity shop buy, on the same day as when I bought Everything Under. To think I went out that day not intending to bring home any books…
The One Hundred Years Of Lenni And Margot by Marianne Cronin
I have mentioned this one on here before and it just sounds like the most beautiful story that will surely bring a tear to my eye and give me all the feels. The reviews are universally positive and it was only a matter of time before I bought it, so luckily I found it at a half-price sale!
Last Seen by Lucy Clarke
This was the final charity shop buy. When I saw it in excellent condition and made absolutely sure that it was on my Goodreads TBR, I felt it would be silly not to take away with me. I added it to my TBR some time ago, but it looks like just my kind of thriller.
Pandora by Susan Stokes-Chapman
I spent an afternoon in Bath the Sunday before last with the sole aim of doing some book shopping. I came away with four books, and at the start of the day this one was right at the very top of my list. The concept of a historical mystery involving Greek mythology is just too good to pass up, and when I entered Topping and Company booksellers I picked up a signed copy almost immediately. I am planning to buddy read it in March, and I cannot wait.
The Smallest Man by Frances Quinn
I knew that I wanted to leave Toppings with another book along with Pandora – it was just a question of which one. My first choice was too expensive, so after a lengthy spell of browsing I narrowed it down to two paperbacks and The Smallest Man edged it! I have heard great things about this one too and love the idea of the story, so it is another book I am looking forward to reading.
