Hello everyone,
I am ever so gradually making a dent in my TBR this year in the attempts to beat that backlog, but of course that does not stop new books from being added. So it is time for a look at five more that I have added to my ‘want to read’ list on Goodreads in recent times.
They are a mix of genres, but one thing they do all have in common is that I hope to pick them up at some point in the coming months!
Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister
Having read all six of her previous books, Gillian McAllister is one of my favourite authors in the domestic thriller genres and all of her new releases go straight on to my TBR. She creates fantastic moral dilemmas in her plots, and by the sounds of it this could well turn out to be her best yet.
The quotes you see from other authors on the cover praising the book is not always a sure sign that you will love it, but I must say that I have never seen words as glowing as the ones that appear on this one. As for the story itself, it seems like a tantalising concept, with a paranormal twist. I cannot wait to read it!
The Shape Of Darkness by Laura Purcell
Another author whose books I love to read, from Laura Purcell you can always guarantee something Gothic and haunting, with intelligent and multi-faceted plots. One look at the blurb for this one confirms exactly that, and I just know that I will like it.
The setting of Victorian era Bath is an exciting prospect, along with the idea of the mystery and how the characters seem pretty unique.
The Dead And The Dark by Courtney Gould
This arresting book has been on my TBR for rather longer than the others on this list, but I am determined to pick it up soon. It sounds like a great debut novel with an intriguing concept of a paranormal mystery. I must admit, just reading the description on Goodreads gives me a lot of Stranger Things vibes, which surely has to be a good thing?
I do not read much in the horror genre, but this one has really captured my attention and I have a feeling I will enjoy it.
The Girls I’ve Been by Tess Sharpe
This one somehow passed me by after it was released last year, but after taking a look at the synopsis and seeing some of the reviews from my blogging friends, I needed little convincing to add it to my TBR. I have it on good authority that this is gripping and very unique, which are two things I love from any book I read. Add to that a interesting main character and LGBTQIA+ representation, and I am definitely sold.
I am also a huge fan of young adult thrillers, as some of you may know from following my blog, so I hope to get myself a physical copy ASAP and see what I have missed out on!
The Lighthouse Witches by C.J. Cooke
Any book with the word ‘witches’ in the title, or simply any book containing witches for that matter, has a reasonably good chance of ending up on my TBR. I had heard of this one before, but first came across it properly when browsing at a bookstore a month ago, and I liked the look of it.
Of course, the cover is beautiful, but that is not the only thing that piqued my interest. The whole idea of the lighthouse and the setting of a remote Scottish island tells me that it is going to be super atmospheric, and I love the sound of the mystery too.
