Five Books On My TBR – October 2022

Hello everyone,

How are you? I am back to blogging again after taking another enforced break because of my other commitments, but hopefully I will be no more of those until the end of the year and I can focus completely on reading and writing posts!

Speaking of which, it is a long time since I shared one of these posts about some of the most recent additions to my TBR. A few here are by some of my favourite authors or are the latest in a series, or they could be one that simply caught my eye.

Without further ado, here is the list!

The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman

I recently bought a copy of this one and plan to read it quite soon. Richard Osman has become something of a phenomenon and these books are supremely popular for their gentle humour and truly memorable characters – I have loved the first two books in the series so far.

It will be very interesting to see what mystery this series has in store next and I am thoroughly expecting it to make me laugh numerous times along the way.

Spells For Forgetting by Adrienne Young

I still have not read anything by Adrienne Young despite seeing them around a lot. Maybe it is time I changed that, and I have it on very good authority that this recent release is an absolute must-read – certain positive reviews meant I needed little persuading to add it my TBR.

So aside from the dazzling cover, what do I make of the blurb? Well, it seems to have just about everything, from atmosphere, to mystery, to romance. When done well, those are all things which I love, and this one sounds even better with the addition of the magic that seems to run through the heart of it.

Amari And The Great Game by B.B. Alston

I read Amari And The Night Brothers back in December 2020 and it was honestly one of the best children’s books I have ever read. B.B. Alston created a marvellous magical world and a main character who all readers could not fail to love, so I was beyond thrilled that it has been so successful.

The sequel is a highly anticipated read, and given that the first book was remarkably fast paced, I imagine that I will fly through this one. I am very intrigued by what else there is to discover in the Department of Supernatural Investigations, and what awaits next for Amari.

The House Of Sorrowing Stars by Beth Cartwright

The thing which captures my attention about this book is that it seems so mysterious. Reading through the synopsis fills me with intrigue, partly because it gives so little away. From what I have been able to glean however, I am expecting something very atmospheric and thought-provoking.

It has a great sounding concept and I usually love historical fiction when combined with a hint of fantasy, so I will be excited to pick this one up.

The Last Party by Clare Mackintosh

The release of this book came as an unexpected surprise, as I somehow knew very little about it until its publication. Clare Mackintosh is one of my favourite authors and since her incredible debut I Let You Go, each new book of hers has been an essential purchase.

This is the first of a series involving the character of DC Ffion Morgan, and looks like a great mystery/thriller with lots of suspects, twists, and a secluded setting. I am used to seeing some jaw-dropping moments from Mackintosh, so my hopes are high for more of those here.
