Top Five Beautiful Covers I Held In 2024

Hello everyone,

Is there anyone out there who does not love a beautiful cover? No, I did not think so. But it is also important to remember, a great cover does not always make a great book.

The lucky thing is, just about all of the books I read in 2024 which in my opinion had the most gorgeous covers, I happened to really enjoy. Indeed, you will be seeing a couple of the ones on this list making my overall top 10 favourite books of the year.

Let us get started!

Tales Of The Celestial Kingdom by Sue Lynn Tan

Every last shred of artwork relating to the Daughter Of The Moon Goddess books is absolutely stunning courtesy of the super talented illustrator Kelly Chong. This one is full of peach blossoms and dragons – a beautiful scene. Also, green is my favourite colour so that is an added bonus.

Belladonna by Adalyn Grace

Every edition of this book has a lovely cover, and this is the one I own! There is something about the berries, the purple leaves, and the nesting birds that evokes the atmosphere of the story so well. If I had not already been taken in by the synopsis, I certainly would have been drawn to this one.

Atalanta by Jennifer Saint

It feels like a lot of the same authors feature on my annual beautiful covers list. For me, this one is not quite as incredible as the artwork we saw on Ariadne and Elektra, but it is still impressive, full of symbolism to represent this latest mythological retelling.

Six Crimson Cranes by Elizabeth Lim

Any book that takes its inspiration from mythology seems to be guaranteed amazing cover art, and this is no different. The colours here are vivid and have an air of the whimsical, while I also like the typeface. The cranes themselves are beautifully drawn too, and I love the touch of including Shiori’s paper bird Kiki on there too.

The Merciless Ones by Namina Forna

This was the only book on this list that I actually did not enjoy, which was a shame as I liked its predecessor a lot. One thing it does have in common though is a strikingly great cover, with a powerful shade of red for the background and the image of a warrior, presumably the main character Deka.
