Hello everyone,
I am normally very good at keeping up with series, not leaving it too long before picking up the next one – or getting to them quickly after the release date. But there are a few that have been out for quite a long time and for one reason or another, I just have not got to yet!
So with that in mind, I am sharing a list of three of those sequels here. Who knows, this might just motivate me to pick them up in the near future…
Emily Wilde’s Map Of The Otherlands by Heather Fawcett
I read Emily Wilde’s Encyclopaedia Of Faeries back in 2023 and although I loved the writing and Emily herself, I found the plot hard to follow, particularly as I got closer to the end. Still, I have always been interested in continuing with the series but that just has not happened yet. The fact that the whole series is now published and Fawcett has recently released a further standalone book just goes to show how much I need to catch up on.
The Eternal Ones by Namina Forna
This is the final book in the Deathless trilogy that began with The Gilded Ones. I read that in 2022 and it took me two years to then pick up the sequel, The Merciless Ones. I felt like that second book got a bit bogged down in the complexity of the world-building and that made me lose interest while reading it, so that is possibly the reason I have felt less inclined to read The Eternal Ones. I have a physical copy though, and it cannot stay on the unread pile forever.
Other People’s Houses by Clare Mackintosh
This is the third book in the DC Ffion Morgan series, which for me really began to hit its stride in the second instalment A Game Of Lies, which I read just over a year ago. I fully plan to pick this one up very soon, once I feel able to splash some money on a hardback copy to match the rest of my collection. I have included it on my last two birthday and Christmas lists, but my family chose to get me other books instead :D
